7 BEST FOODS FOR YOUR DOG’S TEETH

By age 3, 80% of adult dogs have gum or dental disease. This can be very painful and chronic for your pup and can lead to an array of health issues. Brushing your pups’ teeth daily has found to be a real struggle in most households, but there is another solution. A healthy and purposeful diet for your dog. We recommend a raw diet, with raw treats and dental stick to give your dog a fresh start to its diet. We’ve compiled a list of the best ingredients, which have incredible health benefits to help combat and prevent gum and dental disease and plaque build-up in pups.

Start incorporating these healthy ingredients into your dog’s diet today, and dog pup will thank you for it!

  1. Turmeric
  2. Manuka Honey
  3. Charcoal
  4. Raw Bones
  5. Chia
  6. Coconut Oil
  7. Seaweed

Why?

Turmeric is an amazing anti-inflammatory which assists muscles, bones and joints. It’s also a great natural remedy for sore gums. This is why it was one of the first key ingredient I choose to incorporate into my first Dental Stick flavour.

Manuka Honey has been found to offer protection against infection and disease, due to its chemical compounds acting as a long-lasting antibiotic, antiviral and antifungal effects. Manuka honey is a natural prebiotic and has the incredible ability to fight bacteria and control inflammation, which can help fight off dental disease.

Charcoal helps to alleviate bloating, gas, heartburn, stomach pains, and even bad breath for dogs. It’s also a great natural teeth whitener, which helps keep you pups teeth looking great!

Raw Bones contain great nutrients for your pup, but specifically they are primarily comprised of calcium, which is essential for strong and heathy teeth and bones. But this isn’t the only reason why they are great for your pups’ teeth! When your pup is chewing on the tough bones, the bone acts like a toothbrush, scraping their teeth and gums to remove plaque and keep their teeth clean.

Chia has more calcium than whole milk! Which is why it’s a great addition to your pup’s diet, to help strengthen their teeth and bones. Chia is also filled with antioxidants, and omega3s which helps control inflammation. This is why Bell & Bone use chia flour in our entire Dental Range, as well as our Superfood Range!

Coconut Oil is a great pup toothpaste! The lauric acid in coconut oil has been found to help kill the bacteria which can be in your pups’ mouth, which can cause decay. If you find brushing your pup’s teeth to be a great struggle, putting coconut oil on a raw bone can be a great alternative, or you can incorporate dental sticks or healthy dog treats which contain coconut oil into your dog’s diet.

Seaweed is a great a superfood with high amounts of calcium, iodine, cancer preventing properties, and antibacterial properties.

Bell and Bone Dental Sticks are super healthy and packed with nutritious and healthy ingredients such as Chicken, Salmon, Kangaroo, Turmeric, Charcoal and Salmon. Created with a Vet Scientist, we use active ingredients that will assist in reducing the build-up of plaque and tartar when given daily. They come in 3 sizes, as we know that when it comes to our pups, one size does not fit all, as well as three incredible flavours!

When developing the Bell & Bone range, I chose every ingredient carefully and for a purpose. I wanted to ensure my products were super nutritious, as well as fuelled your dog’s health and wellbeing.
